The stiff and ultra-lightweight road bike. It's not just about the weight but what you do with it, too.
Designed as the evolution of the award-winning DIABLO, BURAsl was performance engineered to achieve the highest stiffness to weight ratio ensuring the most efficient and direct power transfer. And this happened to result in 710 grams of raw desire. BURAsl's front triangle is made from NEILPRYDE C6.9 uni-directional carbon fibre, the highest modulus suitable for bikes and incorporates our proprietary Exoskeleton technology, first developed for the DIABLO. External carbon fibre ribs integrated in the key joints of the monocoque front triangle ensure the BURAsl frame responds immediately each time you step on the power and jump for the sprint.Drawing on our 25-years of composites manufacturing experience, a new moulding process was developed for forming the intricate head tube and seat tube joints and bottom bracket. The result: significantly improved control over the frame wall thickness and elimination of fibre wash during moulding in the areas critical for achieving the desired frame performance.
When engineering the rear triangle,
a unique one-piece chain stay,
drop out and seat stay mould
was developed. This enabled the
reduction in the number of bonds,
while allowing for continuous
strands of carbon fibre to be
run through the rear triangle.
Combining this unique design
with the chopstick-thin seat stays
resulted in the perfect balance
between power transfer and ride
compliance. Carbon fibre front
and rear drop outs, a PressFit
30 bottom bracket, and carbon
headset cups further reduce the
frame weight without sacrificing
durability or performance.
The BURAsl is available in two modules – either mechanical compatible with external wire routing for the ultimate lightweight frame, or internal Di2 wiring for that ultra sleek look and dialed drive train shifting. The choice is yours.
Highlights
Optimised tube profiles enable frame stiffness to be maximized in critical areas.
Tubes, joints and transitions incorporate carbon fibre ribs and gussets in strategic locations for optimum power transfer and riding performance. Developed initially for the DIABLO, the Exoskeleton design has been further refined through finite element analysis and applied in specific locations on the new BURAsl.
With over 25 years of experience of utilising carbon fibre in high performance products. NEILPRYDE has developed specific combinations of medium and high modulus uni-directional carbon fibres for our cutting edge race bikes. Specific 3K carbon is applied to high stress areas such as the bottom bracket and head tube.
